The impressive Stegastein viewing point is ‘floating’ mid-air 650 meters above Aurlandsfjorden in Vestland municipality. The viewing point is a beautiful attraction by itself, designed by the architects Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen. The wooden platform reaches 30 meters out, hoovering the treetops, and reaches slightly over the edge. This allows you to fully enjoy the spectacular view over the fjord and Aurlandsvagen below.
Stegastein is right next to the Norwegian Scenic Route Aurlandsfjellet, so it’s a must if you are planning a trip along that route.
