Honda unveils new City and Brio

Setting the bar high

There’s two stylish new ways to get around the city efficiently as Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) officially launched the new City and the new Brio. The two new vehicles boast of enhanced style and updated features to make the drive even more efficient and enjoyable.

The new City

The new City gets even more sporty and stylish with its newly crafted RS Design front grille with RS emblem, and new front and rear bumper with carbon-wrapped lower molding. These give the vehicle a sleeker, wider look, for a stronger presence on the road. It comes with LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and fog lights for all variants. The profile of the City boasts of sharp horizontal character lines complemented by 16-inch alloy wheels. Behind, the City’s new bumper integrates a carbon-wrapped diffuser (RS variant) with LED tail lights, brake lamp, and a high-gloss black trunk spoiler (RS variant).

Inside, the interior has been made premium, functional, and spacious. It also has better visibility thanks to the updated windshield shape to reduce blind spots. Those opting for the RS variant get full leather seats with sport pedals. The interior also has dark red and high gloss black accents in the RS or high gloss black and silver accents for the V.

Drivers get a new 4.2-inch full color TFT meter with a red ambient light instrument cluster (RS), or a 4.2-inch full color TFT meter with white and green ambient light for the rest of the variants. The center gets an eight-inch Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio (RS, V, and S) with an  improved LCD display and better reverse camera resolution. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now made wireless for RS, V, and S.

Powering it is the tried-and-tested 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine with CVT producing a maximum output of 121-PS and 145-Nm of torque. This combo
helps the City achieve fuel economy ratings of 22.2 kilometers per liter for all variants based on the latest Japanese UN-R101 Fuel Economy Testing for highway driving conditions.

Finally, all variants of the new City now come with Honda SENSING — the advanced driver-assist safety technology with features that provide comprehensive protection by giving warnings and automatically taking action to reduce the risk of accidents. These are made up of Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Auto-High Beam (AHB).

The City also has conventional safety features like four standard airbags for all variants, a new Rear Seat Reminder, and new Walk Away Auto Door Lock (RS and V variants). The new City has been awarded a 5-star rating in the latest ASEAN NCAP testing (New Car Assessment Program for
Southeast Asia).

The Honda City comes in four variants: the City E with SENSING (P973,000); the City S with SENSING (P998,000), the City V with SENSING (P1,073,000); and the City RS with SENSING (P1,128,000).

The new Brio

Like the City, the new Brio also comes in a variety of grades, headlined by two RS variants. The new model has a newly-designed piano black RS Design front grille inspired by its siblings, the HR-V and BR-V. This is complemented with newly-updated fog lights and garnishes (all LED in RS
and V variants). The top-of-the-line RS Black Top variant, features a contrasting black roof panel. The RS gets 15-inch wheels while the other variants roll on 14-inch wheels. Behind, the new Brio gets a tailgate spoiler and RS Design rear bumper garnish.

The sporty style is continued inside with black fabric seats with red accents for both RS variants. Passengers will enjoy the premium in-car entertainment, equipped with a seven-inch Capacitive Touchscreen Audio across all variants. RS and V variants get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto,
Bluetooth, USB Port, AM/FM, Android Smartphone Mirroring, with six-speaker audio set up. These include two tweeters for the RS variants. The V and S variants get a four-speaker audio set up.

Powering the Brio is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder SOHC i-VTEC engine that produces a maximum of 90-Ps at 6,000 rpm and 119N-m of torque at 4,800 rpm. It’s paired to a choice of Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) or five-speed manual.

As for safety, the new Brio is sets the bar high with Speed Sensing Auto Door Locks (RS, and V), and a suite of active and passive vehicle safety features. All variants of the new Brio get driver and front passenger airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) as standard, while rear parking sensors are now available across all variants for better safety and convenience.

The new Brio will be available in four (4) variants: starting with the 1.2 S MT at P735,000; 1.2 V CVT at P827,000; 1.2 RS CVT at P253,000, and 1.2 RS CVT Black Top at P863,000.
