The Finnish-Russian border line from 1920-1944. The Soviet Red Army occupied Petsamo during the Winter war of 1939-40. According to the Moscow Peace Treaty Finland handed over the Kalastajasaarento for Soviet Union in 1940.
In 1941, German army invaded through the Petsamo area to Litsajoki, where its attack was stopped by Soviet troops. Red Army occupied the Petsamo area again in 1944. Due to Moscow Armistice terms, Petsamo area was handed over to Soviet Union in 1944.
