July 2019 may feel more like a decade ago than a year ago, but for fans of both Barbie and beauty products, it fondly feels like just yesterday. That's because it's when Pür launched one of the most sparkly, pretty-in-pink Barbie-inspired makeup collections in the history of beauty collaborations — one that just so happened to coincide with the iconic doll's 60th anniversary. And whether you purchased the products to hold onto as collectors' items or you've hit pan and swiped your lipsticks down to a nub after daily use, you'll be happy to hear that Pür x Barbie is back and reimagined in an even more glamorous batch of products.
The new collection features 12 new products that exhibit as much attention to adorable packaging as they do to thoughtfully considered ingredients and materials. Created with the holiday season in mind, these products will look as fabulous unwrapped as they do wrapped — and even more applied.
Like any memorable makeup collection, Pür x Barbie features a palette — two, actually. Endless Possibilities II ($34) follows up on last year's 12-shade eye shadow set with 15 new colors all with Barbie-themed names; the matte, satin, and shimmery finishes bring out the most in the neutral and bold shades, and they all blend beautifully. The Malibu Blush Signature 6-Piece Blush Palette ($32) features a half-dozen super wearable shades made for sculpting and brightening, whether you prefer a subtle wash of color or a noticeable flush.
There are five lip colors in the collection. Iconic Lips Signature Semi-Matte Lipstick ($18) is available in the pinky-beige Trailblazer, the mauve-rose Innovator, and the classic red CEO, all of which saturate lips with lots of color. Barbie Gloss Signature High-Shine Lip Gloss (also $18) is more about shine than shades, with the hot pink Boss Gloss and the barely-there pink Girl Gloss.
The collection lets you approach lashes in two different ways. The Barbie Doll Lash Signature Cruelty Free Pro Eyelash Collection ($16) comes with two sets of false lashes that last up to 30 uses wit the help of the included lash glue. More of a mascara person? There's the Magical Eyes Signature Mascara & Primer Collection ($20), which comes with the brand's beloved Fully Charged Mascara and Fully Charged Mascara Primer.
Glowing skin is basically unavoidable with these new products. Forever Glow Signature Illuminating Scented Body Powder ($32) feels like a deliciously retro way to add radiance from head to toe, thanks to its loose-powder applicator puff. For the face, there's the Confident Glow Signature Illuminating Highlighter ($26), a pressed, two-tone powder debossed with an adorable design. And to finish off with an extra boost of brilliance, there's Lit Mist Signature Illuminating Setting Spray ($32), which locks in makeup with a gorgeous glow and comes in the loveliest vintage-style bottle.
The Brush 'n Sparkle Signature 5-Piece Cruelty Free Brush Set ($48) includes a sparkly bow-enhanced Powder Brush, Cheek Brush, Fluffy Eyeshadow Blending Brush, Eyeshadow Packer Brush, and Angled Liner Brush, all of which come in the cutest Barbie-logo bag. But it's the separately sold Keepsake Kabuki Brush ($28) that feels almost too special to use, thanks to Barbie's silhouette cut into the bristles.
As you can see, the collection is already an impressive upgrade from last year's, but what really sets it apart is the inclusion of skin care. The Barbie Skin Essentials Signature 3-Piece Skincare Sampler ($29) features three of Pür's most popular products — Ceretin Serum Age-Defying Concentrate, 4-in-1 Cloud Cream, and See No More Deep Pore Cleanser — to help kick off a regiment to achieve what it calls doll-like skin.
And here's a surprise: Butter London is getting in on the Barbie fun with three new Patent Shine 10X Nail Lacquer shades ($18 each) inspired by everyone's favorite ambitious doll. Icon is a true Barbie Pink, 24K is a glittering gold top coat, and CEO is a rich crimson red.
We haven't had the chance to try the new Pür x Barbie collection yet, but we're eagerly awaiting the September 1 launch — which includes the Butter London polishes — on purcosmetics.com. After that, it comes to ulta.com on in late September, and then macys.com and kohls.com in October.
