Product Overview: The Creative Zen Stone combines two products into one; it can be used as a digital music player (MP3/WMA) or as a removable USB Flash Drive. The Stone has 1 GB of imbedded memory and will hold approximately 250 songs (4 minutes per song recorded at 128 kbps).

MP3/WMA Player: Music files that you transfer to the player must be MP3 or WMA format. They can be recorded at bit rates up to 320 kbps for MP3 and WMA. You can download music files from Internet music sites or rip music from audio CDs using the Creative Media Lite software downloaded from Creative's web site. The software uses the Gracenote database to get artist and title information about the CDs you rip. You must be connected to the Internet to use this service.

Folders: The player stores audio tracks in folders. It will read folders up to three levels from the root folder. Within a folder, files are in order based on their alphanumeric name. You can rearrange the order by adding an 01, 02, etc to the beginning of the file name.

Headphone Output: The player comes equipped with a pair of stereo earbuds. The player has a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini-jack for plugging in headphones.

Maximum Volume Restriction: You can limit your player's maximum playback volume using the Creative Media Lite software.

Pause Shutdown: If you leave the player paused, it automatically turns off after about 10 minutes.

Controls and Connections

Controls: The player features the following controls:

• Play/Pause Button: the Play/Pause Button has three functions
  • Power: turns the player on and off by holding down on the button
  • Play: begins playback
  • Pause: pauses music until pressed again
• Previous/Rewind: skip backward or rewind within a song
• Next/Fast-Forward: skip forward or fast-forward within a song
• Volume: increases or decreases volume
• Mode Switch: the mode switch has three functions:
  • Repeat: repeat all tracks
  • Shuffle: play tracks in random order
  • Skip: skip to the next folder

Connections: The player is equipped with the following connections.

• Headphone: 3.5mm headphone output
• USB: mini USB version 2.0 connector
