EXCLUSIVE: 'Murder-for-hire plotter' Lindsay Shiver is desperate to leave Bahamas after thief ransacked her apartment and swiped $20,000 worth of jewelry

  • Lindsay Shiver was the victim of a break-in last week, with a burglar making off with a $15k diamond LeMel bracelet, a pair of gold rings and $200 cash
  • Friends told DailyMail.com the mom is desperate to return to her kids and will move to a new location with 24-hour security while she awaits trial on the island
  • The burglar struck last Thursday, just hours after she made her latest court appearance on charges of plotting to kill husband Robert

Accused 'murder for hire plotter' Lindsay Shiver had $20,000 worth of jewelry stolen when a thief broke into her luxury Bahamas apartment as she slept, DailyMail.com can exclusively reveal.

Shiver, 36, was home alone but had locked her bedroom door and didn't wake up as the intruder prowled the rented property hunting for valuables.

The ransacked items include a $15,000 diamond LeMel bracelet, a pair of gold rings – family heirlooms passed down to her by her grandmother and mother - and $200 in cash swiped from the former Georgia beauty queen's purse.

Mom-of-three Shiver only learned about Thursday night's raid when she got up the next day and noticed someone had been rifling through her clothes, bags and lingerie drawer.

Friends say she was left shaken and upset by the break-in and will move to a location with 24-hour security while she waits to go on trial for allegedly trying to sic a hitman on her estranged husband Robert Shiver, 38.

A second apartment in the swish Nassau gated community was also burglarized but cops are yet to determine whether the raider struck the neighboring homes at random or was deliberately targeting Shiver.

'They think the guy scaled the side of the building and let himself in through the balcony doors,' a friend told DailyMail.com.

'We still don't know if it was targeted. He went through the two other bedrooms but fortunately Lindsay's door was locked.

'It could have been a lot worse. If whoever broke in had known there was an attractive, blonde female all alone in the bedroom, anything could have happened.'

The burglar struck just hours after Shiver made her latest court appearance on charges of plotting to kill Robert with the aid of her Bahamian boyfriend Terrence Adrien Bethel, 28, and alleged hitman Faron Newbold Jr, 29.

Prosecutors claim the former cheerleader from Thomasville, Georgia sent a photo of Robert to Newbold along with an instruction to 'kill him' as the one-time college football star visited his family vacation home in the Abaco islands in July.

She and her co-accused will argue that cops are taking their venting texts at face value and there was never any intent to harm Robert - the father of Shiver's three boys, aged four, 10 and 11 - who filed for divorce in April, accusing his wife of cheating.

Lawyers for the trio protested Thursday as prosecutors blew through a deadline to disclose their evidence and instead asked to adjourn proceedings until December.

Insiders predict their hopes of a speedy resolution are likely to be dashed as cases typically take three years or more to make it to trial in the overburdened Bahamian justice system.

Shiver is barred from leaving Nassau as a condition of her $100,000 bail and must register her address with court officials.

She must wear a GPS ankle monitor, abide by an 8pm curfew and report to police three times a week.

'Lindsay is angry that the case has been delayed. She just doesn't feel safe in the Bahamas anymore,' the friend added.

'All she wants to do is clear her name as quickly as possible so she can get back to her boys. The boys also need their mom and miss her just as much.'

Shiver's alleged murder-for-hire scheme emerged by chance when Bahamian police began investigating a break-in at Grabbers, a waterfront bar close to Baker's Bay, an upscale A-list resort where Robert's family have a vacation home.

The thief had cut power cables and disabled the generator to ensure security cameras wouldn't work before ransacking a safe after the bar closed for the night on July 15.

Fearing the work of an insider, cops insisted on looking at night manager Bethel's phone and stumbled across unrelated yet supposedly suspicious messages between himself, childhood pal Newbold and Shiver.

She had allegedly sent Newbold a picture of Robert cozying up to a female pal at Grabbers on the evening of July 16, along with a text stating: 'Kill him.'

Cops warned Robert about the threats and he returned safely to the US while Shiver was locked up for nearly three weeks in Nassau's Fox Hill prison, notorious for its overcrowded, grim conditions and rampant violence.

Since then insurance mogul Robert has sparked up a new romance with Chrisley Knows Best alum Savannah Chrisley, 26, who direct messaged him on social media after reading about his supposed brush with death.

The two Georgia residents were spotted together in Los Angeles last month and have enjoyed a handful of dates, though friends insist the relationship is in its infancy.

Robert and Shiver are still scheduled to square off in Thomas County Superior Court in their hostile divorce and custody battle.

They split in April, according to divorce filings, but continued to live under the same roof and argued so bitterly that Shiver called the police when her husband of 13 years barred her from using their private jet to visit Bethel in the Bahamas.

While Robert has accused his wife of cheating, she countered with accusations of 'physical and mentally cruel treatment' and said the fling with Bethel was 'legally condoned' by her husband.

Alabama native Shiver graduated from Auburn University, where the two met in 2007 while Robert was captain of the football team.

Robert signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent but was let go in roster cuts ahead of the 2009 season and eventually became executive vice president for Senior Life Insurance Company.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com in August, Bethel declared his love for Shiver and said her marriage was on the rocks long before he came on the scene.

'None of us have anything to hide. People are taking everything at face value and defaming us,' he said.

An official from the Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed that an investigation into the burglary was 'ongoing' but declined to give any further details.
