Pixie Geldof's bleached cropped hair has become one of the socialite's defining features, but she has finally gone over to the dark side.

The 18-year-old unveiled a newly brown hairdo as she nipped to the shops today.

But it wasn't the colour that caught onlookers eyes, but the apparent bald patches in her hair.

With grips in her hair, and a couple of elastic hairbands, Pixie's scalp could clearly be seen.

Unlike her older sister Peaches, New Look model Pixie has avoided using hair extensions, which can lead to hair loss.

But after heavily bleaching her hair, month after month, Bob Geldof's daughter appears to be paying the price.

Along with her friends Alice Dellal and Daisy Lowe, Pixie recently moved from Select to NEXT model management.

She is also trying her hand at journalism, writing for Look magazine two days a week - where she can usually be found in the fashion cupboard.
