Another of our cutie pies, Elena Dementieva is out of the 2008 French Open. Elena was beaten out in the quarterfinals by Dinara Safina.
Elena, the 7th seed, put up a good fight. She won the first set 6-4, then went 5-7 in a tiebreak to lose a close 2nd set. Then she seemed to run out of gas and momentum, losing the final set 0-6.
Safina is the 13th seed, and knocked off 4th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova in her semifinal match to win a spot in the French Open Final. This is Safina’s first appearance in the finals here, so she is playing well.I don’t think Elena has anything to be ashamed of.
