More information

The passiflora edulis is native to northern Argentina. In the tropical and subtropical regions, it is a well-known plant because of its sweet fruits, also known as passion fruit. Delicious passion fruits appear in the first year after flowering. The dark purple fruits taste fresh and sweet. Besides the fact that the plant gives delicious fruit, it also grows large, white flowers with streaks of purple and blue. These flowers grow from July to September. The fruit then grows from approximately September to October. The Passiflora edulis is evergreen and this means that the plant is covered with green leaves all year round. It is a climbing plant: the plants attach themselves and will quickly cover a trellis or a wall. They are strong and fast growers and produce many flowers. Furthermore, they are ideal plants for planting in a pot but can also be planted in the open ground. The passiflora plants can grow up to 3 or 4 metres tall. The Passiflora edulis is also appealing to bees and butterflies.

Care
The passiflora edulis has no complicated needs. It grows quickly and is not demanding when it comes to soil and nutrition. The plant prefers slightly moist soil and a sunny position with a little shade. However, the passiflora is toxic to pets.

Size
The plants have a height of 25-40cm upon delivery, measured including the nursery pot. The plants are supplied in a nursery pot with a diameter of 9cm.
