It's hard not to get excited when a new design or colour trend is unveiled, and Graham & Brown's annual Design and Colour of the Year announcement is no exception.
Reflecting the popularity of biophilic design and a desire to bring the outdoors in to create a feel-good space, Graham & Brown's 2024 colour and design of the year are both green, lush and welcoming.
Maryanne Cartwright, Graham & Brown's head of design, explains: 'We wanted to highlight the healing and rejuvenating qualities of nature, and the need to create calm and take the time to slow down in this bustling world.'
Design of the year: New Eden
This year's winning design, New Eden, is an opulent, handpainted pattern with a verdant palette, opulent mix of flora and fauna, and vibrant shots of colour.
The design is available as both a wallpaper and large-scale mural, which can be custom-printed to fit your space, and features plenty of rich and bright colours that you could pick out to complement the design in your woodwork, furniture and accessories.
Colour of the year: Viridis
2024's winning shade, Viridis, is an elegant, muted green that brings the outside in. This flexible hue would work in small spaces to create a cosy, calming atmosphere, or in larger spaces for a sophisticated feel.
Maryanne describes the shade as 'a soothing mid green, the colour of growth and health, mirroring nature and providing a restful and secure feeling.' Like all Graham & Brown's paints, Viridis is water-based and ultra-low VOC to make it as environmentally-friendly as possible.
