EMILÍANA TORRINI & MARKÉTA IRGLOVÁ

For this new 3 Questions episode, we spoke to internationally renowned singer-songwriters Emilíana Torrini and Markéta Irglová about their collaboration on the theater piece Vertu Úlfur (e. Be a Wolf), released in January 2021.

The two artists had previously collaborated on a song called Quintessence that Markéta wrote during Covid, discovering just how well they worked together; they are now writing the lyrics for a new project with the Colorist Orchestra.

A very precious and special musical friendship has since developed between the two, Markéta explaining how unusual it actually is for her to collaborate with other artists - but the creative experience she got from it, without having to carry the whole weight of the project on her shoulders was “very freeing” for her. Emilíana agreed that working with others sure is an interesting way to learn how to compromise and give the pride of place to the collective.
