After Donald Trump was elected as the 45th president of the United States of America, a nonprofit group's director in West Virginia expressed her happiness on Facebook but came under fire.

"It will be refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady in the White House. I'm tired of seeing an ape in heels", wrote Clay County Development Corporation Director Pamela Taylor.

The two officials have been slammed for passing racist remarks about First Lady Michelle Obama and an online petition signed by 75,657 supporters asked authorities to fire both the officials.

Pamela Taylor was removed from the position of the corporation's director after her post went viral.

She reportedly said that the public response had become a "hate crime against me" and she is planning to file a lawsuit against people who have threatened her and her children.

Clay Mayor Whaling defended herself saying her comment was not intended to be racist at all. "I was referring to my day being made for change in the White House! I am truly sorry for any hard feeling this may have caused! Those who know me know that I'm not of any way racist!", she told Washington Post.
