Creating a world of opportunity for all abilities!

About us

Imagine! was established in 1963 by a group of parents determined to see that their children with developmental disabilities had the opportunity to participate in their community. We continue to use that original goal as the basis for our mission. We believe in the potential of all. We believe that people with developmental disabilities have much to offer, and providing the tools and supports that allow them to show what they have to offer benefits us all. Imagine! provides services designed to incorporate people with developmental, cognitive, and physical challenges into the fabric of their communities. Services include educational and therapeutic services, job training and placement, recreation and leisure activities, opportunities for community living, behavioral health services, technology solutions, and support for families. In addition, Imagine! is a private, not-for-profit community-centered board (CCB) in Colorado. A CCB is a local area’s single point of entry into local, state, and federally funded programs for people with developmental disabilities in a community. Imagine! is currently one of 20 CCBs in Colorado.

Effective immediately, Imagine! is opening a search for a dynamic Chief Executive Officer who can lead the free-standing PASA organization after the conclusion of the Case Management Redesign (“CMRD”) process.   Background Information   On July 1, 2024, the current structure of Imagine! will change, as the organization completes the separation of case management operations and direct services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). At that time, Imagine! will finish implementation of the conflict-free case management mandate of the State of Colorado, CMRD. Imagine! will continue to offer direct services to people with IDD as a standalone provider approved service agency (PASA) within a network of privately held and not-for-profit PASAs. Case management operations will combine with those of another agency to form a new entity, which will have its own executive and leadership structure. The case management agency (CMA) will brand with a new name for the future.    At the time of implementation in July, this position will offer the opportunity both to support and influence the reshaping of a beloved community institution, and to build upon a 60-year legacy of creating a world of opportunity for all abilities.     Purpose of Position   Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Imagine! will be responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction of the organization post-CMRD transition to achieve measurable outcomes defined by the Board. The CEO will lead the organization by nurturing and managing high-quality performance and driving results in all aspects of Imagine!’s work in fulfillment of our mission. Additionally, the CEO will continue to cultivate the culture of innovation, long a hallmark of Imagine!’s 60 years of providing services to the IDD community.  The CEO will oversee the day-to-day administration, clarifying the priorities and goals of all aspects of the organization. A Colorado Gives Day Story: Every month at Imagine! we continue to work towards creating a world of opportunity for all abilities. And this November, we experienced so many wonderful and exciting things, including joining our friends at Big Red F Restaurants and The Post Chicken & Beer to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for their neighbors with disabilities, attending a book reading event by Mandy, creating holiday ornaments with a partner organization, and more. So today on #COGivesDay, we want to thank all of you who come together time and time again to help us support over 4,000 people with disabilities. We cannot do it without you! If you wish to donate, you can do so here: https://lnkd.in/gnvaY_jM

July 14th is Disability Awareness Day, designed to encourage others to gain a better understanding of people affected by a disability and raise awareness about the benefits of integrating people with disabilities into every part of life, from economic and political life to social and cultural life. We thought this would be a perfect day to share this video story of Sarah, a painter, illustrator, and sketcher for whom disability is no barrier to creating fantastic and creative works of art. Enjoy!
