Excited and honored to represent Metsä Tissue in Mänttä today as we announced our planned investment program amounting to approximately 100 million euros. The program supports long term continuation of local tissue paper manufacturing in Mänttä and aims at world-class efficiency and environmental performance in production. It also contributes to Metsä Group’s target of all products and mills to be fully fossil free by 2030. Very exciting few years to come for our Metsä Tissue organization in Finland & Baltics!
We launch significant investment plans for our tissue paper mill in Mänttä, Finland. We aim to develop the mill’s production and environmental efficiency by investing in paper machine and converting line modernizations as well as improving the energy and water efficiency. This supports our target of all products and manufacturing sites to be fully fossil free by 2030. https://lnkd.in/din6sG9F

Have you heard these fascinating facts about Metsä Group’s regenerative forestry programme? ”Regenerative forestry means improving the state of Finnish nature and managing its benefits more comprehensively, from carbon sinks to pollinators and berry harvests. The aim is that when the forest is passed on to the next generation, it will be more vital and diverse than when the previous generation had it to themselves. The number of species will increase and the trend towards extinction will also gradually come to an end. A diverse forest is also more resilient to changing climate. Thus, environmental and timber production objectives are mutually supportive.”
The idea behind regenerative forestry is that economic growth no longer means the degradation of natural habitats. It is a systemic change," says Timo Lehesvirta, Metsä Group’s leading nature expert. https://lnkd.in/dnvQ2vMG

Consideration for nature values and biodiversity is an integral part of sustainable forest management. Why leave it there when it can be brought to industrial and urban areas too: ”Metsä Group plans to boost biodiversity on its land areas in Kemi, covering more than 650 hectares, and in all other mills gradually over the next few years. The goal is to improve the state of nature in the industrial environment. The special features of local nature will be taken into account in the project, and the living conditions of endangered species will be improved. The scope of the new nature targets is exceptionally wide and varied, encompassing the built environment as part of regenerative land use.”
Metsä Group tekee tehdasalueilleen biodiversiteettisuunnitelmat – ensimmäinen kohde on Kemissä. Tavoitteena on lisätä alueellista biodiversiteettiä kaikilla yli 20 tehdaspaikkakunnalla eri puolilla Eurooppaa🌲 https://lnkd.in/eRtNPtPC
