WWE producing great storytelling with Undertaker, Triple H and Shawn Michaels

I love to read the message boards after “Raw” each week to see what fans are saying about the WWE’s product. This past week, the boards were filled with fans expressing their feelings about how boring it will be to see Triple H and the Undertaker in the ring one more time. In the immortal words of the Miz, “really?” In other words, is the internet wrestling community (IWC) serious? Are they really complaining about see two legends tell an amazing story going into Wrestlemania?

If Wrestlemania 28 does indeed feature Undertaker vs. Triple H, it would be a rematch from last year and their third overall meeting at the event (they fought each other at Wrestlemania 17 in Texas). Fans are also griping how the Undertaker-Triple H feud is a direct parallel of Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania 25 and 26.

In many ways the fans are right: ‘Taker-HBK is a lot like ‘Taker-HHH. Both feuds are producing the best storytelling in years. If there is one thing fans of the “Attitude Era” miss the most, it’s the great storytelling the characters gave us in the late 1990s, early 2000s. These two sets of feuds are a throwback to that era, filled with tons of nostalgia.

Undertaker, Triple H and Michaels are a dying breed. Once these men are gone (Michaels is already retired), that famed “Attitude Era” is officially dead. Fans need to enjoy the great hype and build toward the Undertaker-Triple H rematch because it’s unique compared to everything else on WWE programming right now. You have two legends taking their time to tell a story and develop something great. I agree that the match might be lackluster, but if the build is right, it’s a pleasure to watch. Also, the match will be above average, but that’s beside the point.

Fans gripe how Undertaker and Triple H are taking precious TV time away from the younger stars that need the exposure because they are the future of the company. I can’t argue with that point because it’s 100 percent true. However, this may be the last Wrestlemania the Undertaker appears. Triple H may only have a handful of high-profile matches left. What we are seeing is rare and we may not have many opportunities left. So, instead of knocking it, embrace it.

As for the Triple H- Michaels segment on “Raw,” it was brilliant. Michaels’ addition to this build is fantastic and much better than his brief involvement last year. Michaels is advertised for the March 5 “Raw” to advance this match a little more.

Triple H said he did not want to fight ‘Taker because he needs to start thinking about the WWE from a business point-of-view since the WWE is going to be his one day. Undertaker is a draw and he needs him to stick around. It very much justified Triple H declining Undertaker’s challenge the last two weeks. It was terrific to watch HBK try and persuade his best fiend to return to his “cerebral assassin” ways.

In yet another excellent video package we saw Undertaker demand his opportunity for vengeance. He took a razor to his hair and started to chop off his hair. It seems the rumors of Undertaker shaving his head after last year’s Wrestlemania are true. Apparently his hair did not grow back fast enough and now the WWE has to work his new haircut into the storyline.

It’s going to be awful to watch the IWC degrade the build-up for this match because Undertaker’s haircut does not fit with the “Deadman” gimmick. That’s just my opinion.
