Grettislaug Hot Spring

Two cosy, modern-esque hot spring pools set within the Icelandic wilderness.

With man-made rock pools set atop natural hot springs located between the sea and mountain, this is the meeting point between man’s ingenuity and nature’s bounty. The natural stone tiles lining the pool, the metal ladders set into the flooring, and the neat oblong and round shapes make Grettislaug Hot Spring look like a luxury Jacuzzi straight from a magazine. Yet concurrently, the intrusion of nature is a welcome reminder of the beauty of an untouched environment.

On one side, the seawall is no barrier to the soothing lull of sea waves; on the other side, the sweeping landscape of snow-speckled mountains (in the winter) or of verdant plains (in the summer) is a treat for the eyes. The occasional steam from the pools lends an aura of mystique which ties well with the fiercely majestic vibe of the typical Icelandic scenery. You can bet that there is nothing better than a relaxing soak accompanied with gorgeous views at Grettislaug Hot Spring.
