The Resident Evil 2 Remake has captured the attention of hardcore fans and some who are new to the series. The release date of Capcom's survival-horror redux is upon us. There are multiple versions to purchase and a pair of pre-order bonuses.

Here are the data and perspective you need when deciding which version of Resident Evil 2 is right for you.

Release Date and Platforms

RE2 releases on January 25. It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The much-discussed 1-Shot Demo was released on all three platforms on January 11 and will remain available until January 31. The demo gives fans a chance to play for exactly 30 minutes as they try to finish a relatively short stage from the game. More than two million people have downloaded the demo and just 27 percent have finished it.

Pre-Order Bonuses

Fans who any version of the game will receive two bonus weapons: Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine’s signature Samurai Edge handguns.

If RE2 is pre-ordered from the PlayStation Store, you'll also get a free RE2 PS4 theme.

Special Editions

The Standard Edition will run $59.99 and it only includes the game.

NewEgg has a nice sale on the physical copy for $49.99, but you probably won't get it on release day.

The Deluxe Edition has a suggested retail cost of $69.99. In addition to the game, DE owners will receive a download voucher for two Leon costumes, three for Claire, Samurai Edge - Albert Model and the ability to swap the soundtrack with the original.

The Collector's Edition comes in at a whopping $199.99. It's a GameStop exclusive. It comes with everything included in the DE with some notable physical items. There is a 12-inch Leon statue, a collector's art book, and R.P.D. renovation blueprints. All of the items come in an R.P.D. item box packaging.

Which One Should You Buy?

If you're trying to figure out which version of RE2 to buy, the decision is pretty simple. If you're hardcore and find enough value in the physical items included in the Collector's Edition and have the $200 to spare, it's a good buy. The statue alone would fit nicely in a game room.

However, if you're not one for physical items with your video games, I'd stick to the SE. The in-game stuff from the DE doesn't change enough about the in-game experience to substantiate the additional $10.
